Senior Financial Analyst

Essential Job Functions

You are the Senior Financial Analyst for Tessenderlo Kerley, Inc.’s Operational and Administrative Shared Services groups and the Mining & Industrial Business Unit (BU).

Key Accountabilities:

Operational and Administrative Shared Services

  • Review and analyze Shared Services operational costs. Support and participate in monthly and quarterly Shared Services reviews, providing financial insights to business trends and operational spend.
  • Drive operational and financial efficiencies, advise Shared Services on key operational issues and make recommendations to optimize shared services performance.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial reports.
  • Support budgeting/forecasting process ensuring accurate, timely and efficient execution.
  • Monitor operational capital spend and provide variance analysis.
  • Provide ad-hoc analytical support to the Shared Services Leads and senior management on special projects as required.
  • Other assignments as requested by the Shared Services Leads.

BU Mining & Industrial

  • Support and participate in monthly and quarterly BU reviews, providing financial insights to business growth trends and profitability in assigned area.
  • Prepare and present analyses of operating results and metrics to the BU management team, including analysis of trends, cost drivers and product costs.
  • Drive operational and financial efficiencies, advise the BU on key operational issues and make recommendations to optimize business performance.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial reports.
  • Manage budgeting/forecasting process ensuring accurate, timely and efficient execution.
  • Act as a liaison between BU and Accounting department ensuring business transactions are properly accounted for in BU financials.
  • Monitor key internal controls within the BU.
  • Communicate Corporate and Group accounting and finance policy changes.
  • Provide ad-hoc analytical support to the BU Lead and senior management on special projects as required.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in finance or accounting and a minimum of 6 years relevant experience
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of finance and accounting operations and strategies as well as process and information flow
  • Self-starter and able to deal with ambiguity and frequent change
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with a team
  • Excellent organizational skills to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Attention to detail
  • Advanced forecasting/budgeting and financial reporting system skills
